So one of my friends here is looking for apartments and found the best apartment in the entire world, though it is a bit dilapitated. It's literally across the street from Congreso Nacional and it's in a landmark building, with stained glass windows, 15 foot ceilings, wooden floors, etc. Also the building has a windmill on the top. It¿s great. Oh, and it has nine bedrooms, and only costs $1350 (u$s465)/month. Ha!

I mention this because there is a (small) chance that I might get to live there...

Here's some fotos:

This one shows the building. The apartment is on the top floor.

This one show its relation to the Congreso-it's to the far right, next to the Congreso.

This one is just a random shot of Avenida 9 de Julio, supposedly the widest street in the world. It's pretty big, all right.

Don't get too excited. In all likelyhood I¿ll just stay with my little place in Barrio Norte.

But...where's the tangled rainforest? Where's the wool-clad natives in amusing fedoras? Where's the swarthy paramilitaries clutching their Kalishnikovs? South America, my ass. Looks like the good old U S of A to me.

Argentina's always been the USA in disguise, silly. Or at least its hyperinflation-ridden brother. Or maybe it's Germany in disguise. Dammit, I forget.
