You know what I love about buses here?

Who the fuck knows where you're going? You certainly don't, while riding it.

After consulting the worthless "guide" to the hundreds of bus lines here, I finally found one that would take me to my destination. I ended up almost completely opposite of where I wanted to go. This is because there is no real route. Yes, I thought that was essential too, but the buses are totally random. I was riding with an Argentine yesterday and we had to change buses twice becasue it didn't run where it was supposedly going to go to. They're impossible.

Yet, always packed. I would kill for a Chicago-style route map that actually showed fixed routes and the streets they run on. How do the guides here work? Well, the city is divided into grids, and there are corresponding numbers and letters and you are to find your which bus goes through your grid and the grid of the place you want to go to.

Fuck you, LĂnea 109 S.A.

*anger falling...falling...*

So yeah. If this isn't suffeciently Latin American enough for you (Benji*), come ride the bus! Yay!

*just joking! duh!

Ah, how nice it is to be in a more "modern" (or whatever makes a city have dependable bus lines) South American city, where I can be told what name or number to look for and just go! And, the drivers are generally pretty nice if you consult with them as well. The other night, I was out kind of late, and a random man selling stuff told me to go ahead and get on such-and-such bus to get where I wanted to go. Nice people - it's a good thing.
